At the start of the 1940s, the jewelry arts were interrupted by the onset of World War II. As a result of gold not being so easily attainable at this time, gold was manipulated in various ways; woven, braided, and coiled, etc. Various textures were juxtaposed within a design and, thus, gold became the quintessential jewelry metal of the 1940s and 50s. Bicycle chains, gas-pipe, and scrolls created chunky gold bracelets with incredible dimensions, as we can take away from the detailed scrollwork in this special bracelet.

The flow of gemstones from South Africa, India, Burma, and other countries was intermittent at best and almost nonexistent to some countries. The result was often the substitution of synthetic gemstones in new jewelry designs. Gemstones such as diamonds, rubies, and sapphires of any significant carat weight were scarce, so we are lucky to have this treasure in our possession.

This exceptional vintage bracelet featuring garden gate fretwork and adularescent star sapphire cabochons shows off the violet hue of each and every cabochon. Additionally, this retro piece has a rose gold hue that creates a stunning contrast with the star sapphires. Sizeable as needed, this beauty wraps around a 7.5" wrist.
