Victorian Garnet and Antique-Cut Diamond Seven-Pointed Star Pendant, English circa 1870
Seven pointed stars are so elusive, one with a gorgeous garnet with a rainbow inclusion are, believe it or not, even rarer. A big fat garnet center with a sizable rainbow inclusion at the top of the stone; there is a magic in the star through the contrast of the garnet and the hot white of the diamonds ant the sterling silver.
I’ve heard many draw a line of relevance between the archaeological revival period and star jewelry, for the ancient infatuation with the night sky. This wonderful star speaks to that intersection. The garnet is likely a replacement; she shines wonderfully in the star.
