This creamy Italian cameo is dedicated to the dreamy Dawn, one of the rarest allegories we’ve had the pleasure of handling, only coming across her twice before. Seated amongst the late night clouds, wielding a heraldic staff, she twists her form to the viewer to announce the sun’s arrival, casting aside the dark hours of star gazing for a new day. Shown with a streaming sash fluttering around her body, there is a certain je-ne-sais-quoi to her presentation, heroic yet soft and feminine.
