An adornment fit for Persephone herself!
This 19th century Pave Garnet brooch exudes Victorian glamour. Crafted circa 1870, this piece is especially notable because it is in solid 10 carat gold. Most of the pave garnet pieces we’ve come across have been in garnet gold or gilded. To have a piece like this covered in complete gold is a curious but welcome treasure!
The construction is remarkable, with fine detailing that immediately captures the gaze. The stars of the show are of course these beautiful miniature garnet stones, which are encrusted all along the surface of this brooch – creating a visage that feels reminiscent of a pomegranate. The drop detailing at the bottom is detachable, making for an adaptable design. With this brooch being made in all good, it could have very well been French made for the American market – but we cannot be entirely certain!
Either way, this is a magnificent jewelry piece that no doubt will be turning heads every time you wear it. Perfect for the antique connoisseur!
