One of the finest examples of a glass-back locket we have ever seen — nearly entirely see-through, with rose cut diamonds set in sumptuous, deeply yellow 18ct buttercup settings, and a black enamel bow as the perfect finishing detail.
Eleven exceptional rose cuts of wonderful clarity radiate from the central stone, the black enamel tracing around them in striking contrast against the rich gold. We are genuinely shocked that the enamel remains intact given the extreme delicacy of this piece — a true testament to careful custodianship over 150 years. The bow at the top detaches, allowing the locket to be worn simply as a pendant, while the pin back transforms it into an effortless brooch — making it a terribly versatile jewel for a piece of such romantic, high Victorian sentiment. Our favourite way to wear it is on an Eloise chain. Acid tested 18ct gold.
