The cult of Victorian memorial jewelry is famous not only for its wide spread prevalence, but for its cheeky peculiarity. This cameo, I’d venture to say, is a product of both sides of the memorial jewelry coin. This exceptional cameo depicts a tearful angel kneeling beside a grave- with a large locket swinging from his wrists. With wind in his shawl and a dagger in his sash, he preys and a cross topped-grave for a loved one to return. The detail of his wings is truly remarkable as we wonder what his pensive expresión grieves.
