An outstanding Victorian cameo ring featuring a sizable slab of onyx, carved with a delicate cameo bust of the goddess Hera, complete with Bandeau tiara. This wonderful cameo is set, carefully into a neoclassical setting, with Etruscan revival boules decorating the bezel. The shank is a beautiful casting of an early 19th century ring, which has effortlessly transitioned this cameo from stickpin-to-ring. Absolutely remarkable.
Age/Origin: American, 1880
Marks: 14K [incised, inner shank surface]
Condition: Overall very good, with only minor and typical age wear. This is a stunning conversion ring. Fine, detailed carving makes up the cameo portrait, having held up beautifully over the many years.
