Pique is a technique in which gold or silver is inlayed into another material, most commonly tortoiseshell, ivory, or mother of pearl. Pique is unique and beautiful because of its fragility; it is so delicate, that many adornments made with pique have disintegrated in the past two centuries.  To bring a piece like this to market is a rare opportunity indeed!

This bracelet is simple but stunning- the black pique immediately catches the eye, and creates a perfect juxtaposition against the bright gold patterning. The design feels reminiscent of future Art Deco jewelry designs, with mystical eye-shaped gold motifs interlocking across the bracelet. Remarkable Victorian craftspersonship, with fine detail.

This original “Bridgerton era” piece is a remarkable example of a bangle that we rarely – if ever – see.

Condition: Very good antique condition; the hinges are missing, and an elastic band has been inserted to create ease of wear, as the bracelet in two halves can open and close now.
