Gold-in-Quartz is one of the world's rarest forms of natural gold. It is found underground by hard rock miners in only a few locations in the world. This unique formation is mined 1,500 to 2,500 feet below the earth's surface!
A very rare and peculiar jewel, most commonly, Gold-In-Quartz is found in American jewelry, as this rare stone was often used as a souvenir of the California gold rush, in the 1860s. However, this specimen, with its darker, more neutral tonality seems to tell a different story. With a 15ct, “orientalist” embellished top, it was either brought back from a less common deposit of the mineral in the US or mined in Europe during the 19th century. Weighing a whopping 12.9g, estimated at 54cts, it certainly is a memorable, rare jewel… not to mention, it’s just beautiful.
