This delightful French Art Nouveau ring is undoubtedly one of the finest examples from this era in our possession, showcasing a magnificent 10th-century Ottoman carving and elements of the Egyptian Revival decorative arts movement that was in vogue from the 1890s to the 1910s. Featuring a wonderful forget-me-not signet in turquoise, the ring fuses multiple moments of artistic visual culture with an allusion to the past. The lotus blooms on the shoulders which echo the shape of the original intaglio, which is cut into an uncommon pear, and celebrated with a light blue enameled and diamond’d halo. This ring is worthy of museum recognition for its singular exemplification of the pre-deco Egyptomania, and post Archeological Revival design.
