Victorian jewelry is as complex in its symbolism, sentiment, and design as the fashion, architecture, and decor of the time. Worn as an ornament, a love token, or a remembrance, jewelry not only completed the well-dressed lady’s costume but also denoted her position in society, her marital status, and her sense of self.
Exceedingly hard to find, pink 18k gold is one of the most collectibles. This brooch is especially fine, featuring 8 tables cut diamonds and three rose cuts, the brooch is estimated to contain 1.25ctw of diamonds, all beautifully prong-set in the Napoleon III manner. With a wonderful boule at the end, and in stunning condition with a classic french closure, this 1860’s french babe is an icon of a find.
