Queen Victoria put snake jewelry under the fashion spotlight when her husband-to-be, Prince Albert, bought her a snake engagement ring, with an emerald (her birthstone) embedded into it. The first Queen to be regularly seen out and about, Victoria’s style was emulated throughout the world and you can still find beautiful antique snake jewelry today.
For Victoria, the snake embodied eternal love, and promised her a true 'happily ever after'. Snake jewelry reached its peak in the 1840s representing love, wisdom, and eternity, and was depicted on a plethora of jewelry including rings, bracelets, brooches, and necklaces.
This stunning snake collar wraps beautifully around the neck and features a large o-ring tongue that allows for charm, locket, or padlock additions!
