A mysterious vintage 3.05 carat star sapphire in 18ct gold, exhibiting six-rayed asterism, this ring is one for the books.
Rare to find in a moody grey, this asteriated corrundum (starr'ed sapphire) is neatly set east west, perfect for stacking. The star here is beautifully centred and moderate in strength. The sapphire is entirely original to its 18ct gold setting, measuring approximately 4.25mm × 3.36mm in a classic cabochon form that suits the stone perfectly.
The ring bears an owl import mark — indicating European importation — alongside an unidentified maker's mark that offers a small and rather charming mystery for its next custodian. Dating to the 1970s, it wears its vintage age with ease. At 6.5 grams, it has the satisfying presence of a well-made gold ring that was built to last another fifty years.
