Delightful and darling!
Crafted circa 1870’s in 9 carat gold and sterling, this Ruby, Diamond, and Pearl Crecent Brooch is a wonderful Victorian era wedding token! The crescent moon or “lune de miel” brooch was often given to new brides on their weddings, as a way to ensure a fruitful honeymoon. The moon would often be encrusted with jewels for the marriage’s success.
And indeed, on this special brooch, we see a dazzling array of jewels bestowing a blessed matrimony: diamonds for eternity, rubies for passion, and pearls for new life. Together they make a kaleidoscope of color that stands out no matter how you choose to wear this brooch.
A romantic addition to any antique jewelry collection!
