A magnificent family heirloom!
There’s not been a treasure quite like this in our repository, and we’re so delighted to be able to bring it to market!
Crafted between circa 1790-1810, this18th century Fob is a remarkable decorative example, displaying the Campbell Family Crest in 3 different places; and also displaying two different mottos: Fidus x Amicis, and Terra Mar e Fide. Terra Mar e Fide, which is displayed twice with the repeating crest design, is translated to “by the earth, sea, and faith.”
This fabulous fob was most likely used to seal different types of correspondences, marking them with this iconic and memorable crest and motto.
A fantastic historical find, perfect for the art historian and antique connoisseur alike!
