A rare pair of Italian micro-mosaic earrings, set in gold fill, circa 1860, these earrings were recently discovered in France, likely an excellent example of Grand Tour Archeological Revival 19th century splendor. The fine ancient-esque setting electrifies a dark slate tonal selection of micro mosaics depicting a beautiful pair of fruit bowls-- these are simply magnificent.
There is a certain smartness to the design of these incredible earrings- I am particularly fond of the solid gold ear wires and the delicate greco-roman revival detail at the tops of the mosaic pannels.
Materials & Features: gold fill, micromosaic
Age/Origin: Italian, 19th C
Measurements: 8 grams, 2.35”
Condition: as mentioned above, they are in good condition with some wear to the micro mosaics- overall, a terribly coveted set.
