The 1940's was an architectural moment for jewelry in the 20th century; in the wake of wars, the styles which emerged were often about power. Arching towards the sky, stylizing the visual culture of a world in a post-missile world, French jewelry of this period can be identified with geometry and a heavy usage of materials.
This ring, made of an impressive 1.15 total carats in diamonds, is set in white and yellow gold, creates an icy embrace for the central diamonds-- and a hugely impactful 18ct golden setting. With eagle head hallmarking on the reverse, this would have been a jewel on par with the work of houses like Bucheron and Veverre.
