A rare pair of Italian micro-mosaic earrings, set in 18ct gold, circa 1860, these earrings were recently discovered in France, likely an excellent example of Grand Tour Archeological Revival 19th century splendor. The buttery 18ct gold of the ancient-esque setting electrifies a powder blue tonal selection of micro mosaics depicting swirls, floral friezes, garlands, and two peace doves, mid flight. 20 micro-mosaic panels in total, makeup the fabulous presentation of these earrings.
There is a certain smartness to the design of these incredible earrings- they have been worn for over a century and a half, and have experienced some loving upkeep- but this does not effect their intrinsic beauty or majesty.
Materials & Features: 18ct micromosaic
Age/Origin: Italian, 19th C
Measurements: 8 grams, 2.35”
Condition: as mentioned above, they are in good condition with some wear to the micro mosaics- overall, a terribly coveted set. Tops have been refitted and soldered on, there are minor putty repairs. Settings are original and fabulous.
Please view and inspect any photos closely. We endeavor to fully disclose all condition information clearly and concisely, however, please note that what qualifies as excellent condition for historical jewelry differs from modern and contemporary pieces; please take the age of the piece into account when examining the piece. Minor age wear is typical and to be expected for antique and vintage jewelry.
