A rare portrait set in 9ct, acquired on a recent trip to London. Reminiscent of superb KPM of porcelain plaques, this hand painted porcelain miniature depicts a young lady in profile. With her hair set in an 18th century style, and a fichu draped carefully around her shoulders, this wonderful portrait sitter must have been a woman of some importance. I’ve dubbed her the absinthe fairy, for the unusual green tonality of the portrait.
Impressed “23” on the reverse, it is a painting on porcelain of the highest quality.
