A perfect Napoleon III Perpignan garnet ring, in rich 18ct yellow gold — a foiled, domed Perpignan-cut garnet at the centre, haloed by a cluster of soft pink garnets in the elusive two-tone palette collectors seek out.
The Perpignan cut itself is a defining feature of this period: a domed, foiled construction that gives deep red garnets their characteristic glow from within. Surrounding it, soft pink garnets create a striking colour contrast against the deep red centre — a special detail for anyone hunting for the rarer two-tone garnet combinations of the era. Down either side of the shank, a French garden gate detail runs in relief, echoing the famous Parisian ironwork terraces of the Haussmann period, some thirty years prior to this ring's creation — a charming piece of design history hiding in plain sight. Fully hallmarked with the French eagle head, acquired in France.
