A first glance at this darling pair of Cut Steel Bracelets evokes images of Joan of Arc, riding into battle with her fists raised high. Or perhaps a female knight, ready to strike her opponent in a joust? Either way, this pair of bracelets is sure to be a showstopping addition to any ensemble.
Crafted circa 1800, these bracelets are English in origin, and fashioned in the style of classic battle gauntlets. Following the Seven Years War, cut steel became highly en vogue within wealthy and affluent circles as replacement for their previous jewels (which had been donated to fund the war effort). Bracelets like this pair would have no doubt been a welcome accessory for an aristocratic lady out on the town.
Also interesting to note is that these bracelets were made for both a dominant and non-dominant hand. A delightful and unique addition to any antique jewelry collection!
