This beautiful pendant in 15k shows a sparrow amid arching branches laden with forget-me-nots and a diamond dewdrop. Truly outstanding in its rendering, this piece is heavy with sentiment; the sparrow wears many feathers, but perhaps my favorite symbolic meaning is that of “love across time.” Herein, our sparrow glances upward, her back arched and her wings outstretched, ready to take flight, as her beak peeks out from behind the cutting blue of the enameled forget-me-nots, her red garnet cabochon eye peeks out, as her body protects her nest of three pearl eggs. A new family, a reunited love, an entire symbolic journey in a singular swath of gold, or just a beautiful trifle for a happy wearer.
This early 19th C pendant will be the star in any collection concerned with the best-of-the-best in figural jewelry.
