Thankfully for us, the style was meticulously revived in the 19th c, spurred by archeological digs and the new discoveries of the Rosetta Stone, the tomb of Tutankhamen in the Valley of the Kings, and the excavation of the Pyramids at Giza at the beginning of the century.
This stunning pair of amphora earrings, rendered in tortoise, are especially captivating; with 15ct gold scroll form handles and grape vines and clusters ornamenting the neck. Antiquity and the Aesthetic movement blend together in this piece, with a dazzling double frame around the platinum and gold flowers at the amphora’s belly.
