A rare pair of onyx "garden gate" earrings with a phenomenal 14ct gold detailing and pearl accenting, these ingenious earrings were once two halves of a brooch- beautifully rendered into their current state by a crafty artist. With long, bold, 14ct hooks, they are simply delicious to behold, and a proud staple of the 1860's. A boldness, a geometry echoed in the shapes of the gowns and cuts of lapels, is their hallmark- these earring are unmistakably from this period-- and yet they seem at home in any decade that might have followed. I adore them.
