Outstanding Natural 3 Pearl Brooch with GIA Certification
An outstanding French hallmarked natural pearl and diamond brooch in all original condition, this outstanding jewel is one of those things that comes along once in a blue moon; the setting seems to speak to the brewing art nouveau period (circa 1875) with swirling, scrolling details that swoop from the bottom up, culminating in fully articulated, sensual lines of old mine cut diamonds that shimmy when worn. A few notes on the exceptional value aspects of this brooch.
—Original old mine cut and old European cut diamonds of this quality and at this quantity (62 stones) are nearly impossible to find now, much less intact in a jewel. The setting and details of, for example, the rosette would have been scavenged historically to create earrings and a ring; or the diamonds and pearls extracted to be destroyed for parts.
— The outstanding pearls have GIA certification; a matched pair of 8mm/7.7mm and a singular 7.75mm
—Back fittings are in possession of attachment and detachment mechanisms- the brooch fittings can be fully removed.
—The top pearl is spike set, as original pearls of this era were (always look for this setting when buying natural late 19th century pearls.
—The cylindrical safety clasp has floral decoration, as all the finest French couture brooch closures were at this time. A delicate hand etching that finishes the brooch beautifully!
This brooch would have been painted as a family heirloom in an important portrait at the time of its creation, and should be adopted as an important historical object today.
