An exceptional mid 19th century solid 9ct malachite padlock bracelet. I've had the pleasure of handling many rare 19th century jewels, but a padlock bracelet of carved and faceted malachite would be a first! I've never before seen malachite used in this manner, it is far more common to find it in cameos or even intaglios, as malachite was a truly rare stone of the semi-precious variety (today, there is so little of it left un-mined in the earth, it is becoming a precious gem.) This beautiful 19th century example of the classic 1860's padlock methodology is outstanding; I'm certain that it will be a landmark addition to any collection.

Padlock bracelets of this nature have become extremely coveted, this bracelet currently does not unlatch, but we will bring it to our jeweler before shipment to ensure that it does upon the buyer's request. We would also be happy to remove the safety chain if desired!
