A wonderful, notable Victorian English Sardonyx shield ring, in a perfect bubblegum pink tone. Evermore elusive as the years pass, shield rings have been a staple in the world of Victorian artistry, they were worn, they were used, and served a duality of beauty and functionality. This particular example is especially large scale with a perfect, even tone, having been cut at just the right angle to express the shade desired. Sardonyx achieves various colors of pink by being cut on a perfect flat plane at the angle of a white layer over the red “carnelian” layer underneath, to express this faded pink. This shield has furthermore, been so carefully tamed by a skilled lapidary to achieve this corseted shield shape. I couldn’t be more excited to offer this rare example
