A wonderful 3.48ctw Toi et Moi ring featuring two sweet marquise diamonds with a luxuriously thick band.

I've read many times that the first Toi et Moi ring was given by Napoleon to his first Empress Josephine– a pear cut diamond and and tear drop sapphire — to celebrate their union. Since then, the toi et moi has come to symbolize the harmoization in coupling; the you and the me of it all. 

Often the choice of stones sent into a toi et moi will have significance to wearer. Here at the curio, we have custom created toi et moi pieces with birth stones, significant family heirlooms, and reworked historical pieces for new loving hands; I'm delighted to share this special vintage toi et moi, for what could be a more romantic than two marquise diamonds, set in a long lasting kiss? 

Details

  • Era: Circa 1980.
  • Origin: Likely European; the 750 hallmark in an oval cartouche is consistent with this attribution, but the geographic origin is not confirmed.
  • Materials: Solid 18ct yellow gold, hallmarked 750 on the interior of the band.
  • Diamonds: Two marquise diamonds, each measuring approximately 8.5 × 4.5 × 2.5mm, with an estimated weight of 0.54ct each (1.08ct combined), plus 24 supporting round diamonds at approximately 0.05ct each (1.20ct combined). Estimated total diamond weight: 2.28ct. Diamond weights are estimates, not weighed weights.
  • Emeralds: 12 calibre-cut emeralds, approximately 1.20ct total weight.
  • Construction: Toi et moi design with two marquise diamonds side by side, supporting round diamonds, calibre-cut emeralds along the shoulders, and a substantial gold band.
  • Face dimensions: 15mm across; sits 3mm above the finger.
  • Weight: 8.25g.
  • Ring size: US 6.
  • Resizing: Can be resized up or down by two sizes.
  • Condition: Excellent vintage condition, with minor wear commensurate with age.
