Antique French 18ct & Banded Agate Snake Fob c. 1798-1809
This intricate serpent has over two centuries of history to its name. Crafted in 18ct yellow gold, this French watch fob features a twisting snake above a small platform, its base set with a smooth slab of banded agate. Beautifully worked and full of character, it's far too lovely to remain tucked inside a waistcoat pocket, it must be on full display!
It came to us with a poorly fitted replacement stone. We’ve since had the present banded agate carefully fitted to its base and added a decorative bail, ready for its next incarnation. A French rooster-head hallmark dates the piece to 1798–1809.
Wear it on your favourite gold chain or threaded onto a ribbon to give it a modern look.
