Perfume vial or bottle pendants are thought to have originated in ancient Europe and served the dual purpose of also being a piece of jewelry. They may also be used to hold essential oils, paper notes can be placed inside, and also as a cremation ash container. In times when sewage and sanitation weren’t yet developed, the carrying and wearing of a scent also made the day-to-day routine more pleasant - that is, if you could afford to do so. 

This tiny but mighty perfume bottle pendant features a sash of turquoise gemstones around it and is set in 14k.
