An outstanding, English love token medallion, featuring Cupid forging the tip of one of his arrows, rendered as a cabochon garnet. A bright North Star of hope’s undying fervor shines above the forge, illuminating the anvil where love’s passions are born. Who could resist so special a sentiment of love? The enamel is excellently completed, with Cupid’s multicolor wings, reminiscent of the cupids glancing upward below Raphael’s widely reproduced Sistine Madonna (1513.) I’ve included the image in the index attached.
