An outstanding, English love token medallion, featuring Cupid forging the tip of one of his arrows, rendered as a cabochon garnet. A bright North Star of hope’s undying fervor shines above the forge, illuminating the anvil where love’s passions are born. Who could resist so special a sentiment of love? The enamel is excellently completed, with Cupid’s multicolor wings, reminiscent of the cupids glancing upward below Raphael’s widely reproduced Sistine Madonna (1513.)
