French Art Nouveau Diamond, Emerald & Grey Pearl Ring
A special, design forward French Art Nouveau ring in 18ct gold and sterling, with rose-cut and Old Mine-cut diamonds, calibre-cut emeralds, and two original grey button pearls, likely natural.
From the moment the nineteenth melted into the twentieth century, this Art Nouveau jewel looks back at the storied Orientalist movement, with pointed edges that shape-shift into curls to form the channels housing the diamonds and calibre-cut emeralds, which encircle two natural pearls. The grey pearls glow against the acid-green tone of the emeralds, reminding us of arsenic gowns and malachite fireplaces. This is one of my favorite jewels in our the Art Nouveau collection.
