We feel incredibly fortunate to have the opportunity to present this extremely rare archaeological revival pendant to you. Ineffably delicate, this pendant in the shape of a wine decanter was rendered using expert gold work techniques, that jewelers inspired by Etruscan and ancient gold jewelry, worked endlessly to achieve once more. Revivalists, like the Castellani brothers, reintroduced this technique of twisted wire and granulation into popularity as a part of their ancient-world revival designs during their long reign over the Italian/European tour market in the 19th century, but this special example dates earlier to the late 18th c.
Entirely composed of finely twisted 18k gold wires, this captivating pendant is breathtaking. With scalloped lip, the neck and belly of the decanter are rendered in petal-like segments containing multiple textured scrolls, this pendant will melt any ancient design lover’s heart.
