Fit for Aphrodite herself!

These blush-pink freshwater pearls are simply immaculate, creating a necklace that is sensuous, romantic, and timeless in its beauty. The stars of this adornment are, of course, these freshwater pearls. We’ve never come across pearls this big before, and they glow with an effervescent shimmer.

Freshwater pearls are unique in that they come from mollusks living in fresh water (springs, rivers, creeks, lakes and ponds).   When an irritant comes into contact with the freshwater mollusk, it secrets a liquid called nacre around the irritant. After many years, the layers of nacre build up around the irritant, leading it to eventually form into a pearl.

Over 90% of freshwater pearls are baroque – meaning they possess an irregular, asymmetrical shape. But as you can see, these freshwater pearls are pink, lustrous…and nearly perfectly round. How curious!

Personally, we believe this only adds to the magic of this adornment, for what a rare and radiant treasure it is to have such clean and soft freshwater pearls like this! A truly magical addition to any antique jewelry collection.
