A beautiful museum-quality piece from the Victorian Era! This Carnelian fob showcases beautiful early 19th century English craftspersonship.
Crafted circa 1820 in 15 carat gold, this fob features gorgeous Victorian construction, with a lovely fleur-de-lis inspired gold frame and pendant clasp. In the center of this adornment is an exceptional blood-red carnelian stone, upon which the Greek figures Adonis and Hope are rendered in stark relief.
On one side of the fob is a wonderful carving of Adonis; on the other side is a sensous depiction of Hope. Hope in particular is shown with a large-scale anchor and an upturned index finger, urging the gaze up towards a heralding ribbon – which is inscribed “Never Despair”.
With fine detailing and wonderful historical significance, this fob is a perfect addition to any antique jewelry collection!
