Cherry Foiled Rock Crystal Ring in 18ct, 14ct Gold

You are looking at a wonderful late 19th century jewel that our workshop rehabilitated with a little historically informed TLC. When we got her, she had a blotchy blue foil that someone had redone likely in the 1950sโฆ I banished this impostor from this closed back setting, and specially sourced this hot pink foil to sit behind the stone. And what might that stone be?? The original rock crystal, of course!
A cut above paste, and similarly prized to garnet and amethyst, rock crystal is the chameleon of antique jewelry, if you will, who takes the color of her foil, backing with remarkable prowess.
