Certified Cartier Egyptian Revival Lotus Jabot by Georges Andrey with Diamonds, Carnelian & Onyx
Made by prominent Cartier Belle Epoque jeweller Georges Andrey. This piece was produced by Andrey’s atelier in the emerging Egyptian revival aesthetic which would dominate many of the art deco designs that merged futurism with the ancient world. Designed to evoke the lotus motifs of temple columns, in the striking contrast of carnelian and onyx with 44 diamonds. Taking full advantage of emerging technologies to work in platinum, Andrey crafted exception objects like this for fashionable clientele in the highest echelons of Parisian society (figure 3). This piece is comparable to the smaller scale objects on view at the most recent Cartier exhibition at the Victoria & Albert museum in London, Spring 2025 (figures 1 & 2).
