Antique French 18ct Diamond & Enamel Navette Ring
A rather regal French beauty, with a flair for colour, this antique navette ring was crafted in 18ct yellow gold and is fitted with a sparkling central diamond and vivid cobalt blue enamel, framed by a border of white enamel dotted with gold! Two smaller diamond accents and further touches of blue enamel decorate the outside face to complete the effortlessly chic design.
A jewel of the empress Eugenie period, this ring perfectly typifies the Empress's fascination in reviving the world of her ill fated predecessor, Marie Antoinette. The marquise shape and blue/white enamel combination were favored motifs of the third quarter of the 18th century, and one hendred years later, the style was thus revived in patriotic French pieces of hte Napoleon III period like this one!
