Belle Époque Platinum-Topped 18ct OEC Diamond Rivière | 23.52ctw 48 Stones | 15.75"
The platinum-topped rivière is the Belle Époque rivière — the form at the height of its powers, in the French manner, at the precise moment when Cartier and Chaumet were building the great diamond necklaces of the fin de siècle. This example, with 48 Old European cut diamonds of approximately .50ct each totalling 23.52 carats in a platinum-topped 18ct gold mount, belongs entirely to that tradition. The platinum top gives each stone a white, bright setting that yellow gold simply cannot achieve — the diamonds appear to float on the skin, barely held. At 15.75 inches it sits high and proud, exactly as the period intended. Made to measure by our lapidary. M/N colour, VS1–SI1 clarity.
