Art Deco 18 ct Gold, Platinum, and Sapphire Ring

Funky and glamorous! This platinum and sapphire Art Deco Ring is a really cool example of 20th century artistry. Crafted circa 1910 in 18 carat yellow gold, this ring boasts a silhouette reminiscent of the “navette” (little ship) jewelry design made popular in the Victorian era. However, there are some clear Art Deco influences, as the ring is heavily geometric in design, with a stylistic flair that is peak Art Deco opulence. 

The most interesting detail of this ring are the sapphires – which are actually synthetic! The existence of the synthetic sapphires is notable as they were considered coveted “state of the art” jewels when this ring was made. Artificial jewelry was still new and emerging during the Art Deco period, so having synthetic man-made jewelry of this caliber was indeed a technological flex!

Made all the more beautiful by the stunning cluster of natural platinum diamond stones halo’ing the sapphires. The larger diamond stone in the center of the ring creates a lovely color juxtaposition as well, marrying the beautiful light and dark hues of the jewels deliciously.
