The Victorian language of flowers added an extra symbolic strand to the forget-me-not’s message of remembrance: that of true love. Because the Victorians adored both sentimental and symbolic jewelry, it became a common motif, we often find the forget-me-not and the Rose in the center of the floral lexicon. This beautiful hand in gutta percha serves as not only a lovely reminder of this 19th century custom, it serves as a palimpsest of language, communicating both beauty and symbolism. The hand wrought cuff worn by the hand is a masterwork of hand carving!
