The navette enjoyed a revival in the 19th century- as the shape was first popularized by the Marquise diamond, (named, as oral tradition states, after the Marquise de Pompadour’s lip shape) and then the little boats seen on chateau ponds and 18th century hair styles! Prized for its elongated form and tapered ends, when viewed from above, the shape creates a graceful, directional line that lends elegance and visual length to the finger.
This example is crafted in 20ct yellow gold and centers a richly colored blue sapphire, framed by a halo of bright diamonds. The composition balances softness and precision, with the saturated sapphire providing depth against the warmth of high-karat gold.
