This exceptionally rare deco scarab ring speaks to the Egyptomania of the period; a newfound interest with ancient Egypt spurred by Carter’s “discovery” of King Tut’s tomb through a massive excavation in the Valley of the Kings in 1922. Fascinated by the photos and ancient Egyptian artifacts brought back to the west, artists and designers began incorporating Egyptian iconography and design motifs into their design vernacular, ultimately producing some of the most stunning pieces of the art deco period.
This exceptional and example features band detailing inspired by Egyptian architecture in 14ct hyper yellow gold. Sitting at a weighty six grams, this ring is a museum quality example of this rare moment in jewelry history.
