When I first began mentally sketching the curious collection, I knew that the emerald would play a starring role in my vision of crafting modern relics of the ancient world. There is nothing quite like the velve9gty glow of an emerald cabochon— and when I first laid my eyes upon images of Javanese rings from the fourth century CE, I was struck with a cupidian arrow of inspiration at their chunky “baby arm” like settings.

Like many jewels of the ancient world, The intrinsic value of gold served to allow the error, a small yet portable power. The Troy ounce ring, for example, could have been traded for property or commodity of any kind, but only the most handsomely compensated craftspeople would make jewels like the bulb band here… for its value was no held in the materials of it’s construction, but in the adornment it afforded the wear. It was in the spirit that our emerald bulb was created. Not for the weight or fineness of the stone, both of which are quite remarkable; but instead, simply because it sings in musical conversation with the past.
