Who could resist a heart, much less one that burns with the fiery glimmer of a rose cut symphony? An exceptional flaming heart from the 19th century, this brooch is a coveted example of a symbol that has come to represent passion in two folds; the burning heart of Christ, and the beating heart of a lover. The duality of this object is further complicated by the extending Ruby “blood drop” that escapes from the bottom of the heart, which has perhaps been pierced by devotion or revelation. This sparkling brooch features rose-cut diamonds that radiate outward, adding glimmer to the dark, passionate subject matter.
