In 2019, I realized that ancient jewelry slipped through the sands of time to modern hands for one simple reason. Neither the intrinsic value of the gold and stones nor the reverence for millennia of existence kept the adornments of antiquity alive and well in the jewelry boxes of those lucky enough to acquire them. No; you'll know, if you've ever touched a 18ct ring from Byzantium, or a flipping scarab specimen from Egypt- or even a Roman chain with hellenistic stylization- ancient jewelry literally never goes out of fashion because it is absurdly wearable.Ā 

During the pandemic, I acquired a Roman amethyst ring that I rarely, if ever, took off, as it was just so comfortable. Thus, when I thought about what I, as a curator of wearable decorative art in miniature, had to say, with the designs I minted for others to adopt into their jewelry boxes, it was the jewelry of the ancient world that spoke to me.Ā 

The Celebrated Puppy is one such interpretation of the very best that the ancient world had to offer us, reinterpreted for the modern era. Featuring a beautiful dog, seated atop a thin, rectangular plinth, celebrated with floliate designs. The ring is based on an 18th century Marine Ivory example from my personal collection, hand hewn at sea by a careful sailor.

The Celebrated Puppy can be had in either a matte finish or a light, satin polish.Ā
