Elegant and striking!
Crafted circa 1870 in a rich 14 carat gold, this American Archaeological Revival Chain boasts hundreds of hand-wrought links. The links are particularly notable, as they are what we’d consider to be “finial’d fibula” – as each link looks like a roman fibula brooch! The resulting silhouette is striking and regal, no doubt emulating the powerful visage of the jewels worn by high-ranking officials of Ancient Rome!
Also striking is the mint condition tassel with a hand etching at the cap. Between this fine detailing and the delicate boules at the ends of the fishtailed chain edges, the tassel is the perfect centerpiece to a timelessly gorgeous chain.
The perfect treasure for any art historian or antique collector!
