Gorgeous and glamorous!
These 19th century Iberian Applied Pearl Earrings illustrate a rarely seen moment in Spanish jewelry. Crafted between 1825-1850, these earrings display the vibrant 16 carat gold of the Alicante Region. The construction is impeccable and unique as well.
Iberian jewelry – particularly earrings – were most often stylized by Pendeloque and Girandole designs, which create a chandelier like silhouette.
But these earrings are exceptional in that they exhibit large gold shields adorned with delicate pearls, and torpedo drops that suspend from the main element. It is a unique silhouette that feels reminiscent of an incense thurible, or the Archaeological Revivalist Etruscan earring design. A rare example indeed!
And a remarkable addition to any antique jewelry collection!
