One of the most pervasive 19th-century symbols was the buckle. When used in mourning jewelry, buckles represent a memory and strength to hold the family together through grief; but here we find the buckle in my favorite iteration; the friendship/lover bond. Unbreakable together, here we see the diamond and the buckle united- in this sumptuous 18ct English jewell. What a sizable token! Not to mention that the buckle herself forms a fashionable uppercase E when worn right to left...
