Dainty and darling!

This delightful French Seated Whippet Dog Fob is truly one of our more adorable finds! Crafted in a striking 18 carat gold, this regency era fob is a rare piece – as there are not many fobs that depict whippet dogs! The dog in question is seated in an elegant stance, poised yet sweet.

A closer look at the pooch reveals some amusing details: if you magnify him, you’ll notice hundreds of etchings designs to imply his fur; as well as the implication of this manhood. On the ground below, countless blades of swirling grass have been rendered through this same impeccable hand etching.  There was clearly a lot of love and care put in this fob.

A remarkable addition to any antique jewelry collection!

Age/Origin: 18ct, Carnelian

Marks: None visible, but might have been rubbed away with wear.

Measurements: 1.25” tall, 3.61g

Condition: very good historical condition; one small dent to the left shoulder blade; the pup is hollow so wear like this is to be expected!
